The Eleusinian Mysteries: A Mythic Journey of Transformation and Soul Reclamation
What parts of yourself did you learn to set aside in order to meet the expectations of the world around you?
Who did you become to keep the peace, succeed, or belong?
Through myth, ancient mysteries, dream work, and depth psychology, this course supports reconnecting with the lost parts of yourself and letting go of patterns that no longer serve you.
This six-week course provides a deep and engaging exploration of the Eleusinian Mysteries—the ancient sacred traditions dedicated to the Greek goddesses Demeter and Persephone—which shaped spiritual life in ancient Greece for 2000 years. Although the original ceremonies remain largely secret, they are believed to be connected to the myth of Persephone’s descent into the Underworld and her return to the living world—a story that mirrors the modern psychological journey of loss and transformation through a deep connection to soul. Instead of viewing the myth solely as history, course participants are encouraged to see it as a living story with personal meaning. Each class includes a brief lecture and practical exercises from mythic and depth psychology.
Participants will be guided to connect directly with the myth and the Mysteries through methods such as dreamwork, journaling, and creative imagination to explore their own psychological journeys. No prior experience with these techniques is needed. The course highlights how ancient wisdom supports modern life by offering guidance on releasing outdated identities and perspectives, reconnecting with forgotten parts of the soul, cultivating intuition and inner authority, and revitalizing a relationship with the feminine as a source of wisdom and healing.
PLEASE NOTE: The sessions will be recorded and made available to participants in case you are unable to attend all sessions.
